Author: Jeremy Gadd - Date Added: May 29, 2008 09:12:19 PMThe Importance of RSS Category: Computers and Internet: Search Engine Optimisation What's so special about RSS? Well, in a nutshell immediacy. What search engines and web surfers are looking for is fresh content. Who wants to read yesterday's news? (Well, maybe a historian or those who don't have time to read the news!). What an RSS feed does is to make that content available as it is published. The subscriber doesn't have to go looking for it, the content comes looking for them.Secondly, RSS allows the end user to manage content from multiple Web sources in one place. Using an RSS Reader you can get different news from different blogs and web sites sent to the same place. No more clicking on endless amounts of news sites or latest news pages to find the content you need. Lasty, I reckon RSS must be important too because in 2007 Google bought up FeedBurner, the news feeds management provider. Considering that FeedBurner only started in 2004 this shows the importance Google must put on this technology. Ratings:
